PS 230 Mission
PS 230's mission is to create self-directed, freethinking learners who will grow into independent members of our local and global community.
Our unique community works together to establish a socially and emotionally secure environment. This allows children to feel confident to take risks in their learning.
Central to our belief is a shared respect of the individual needs of children. Standards-aligned curriculum is catered to individual learning styles and interests, constantly evolving based on our knowledge of our students.
Professional collaboration fosters inquiry in order to grow in our understanding of the art and science of teaching.
Our goal is for students to continue their journey of learning with an appreciation and respect for diversity through the cultural exchange experiences at PS 230.
What do we do at PS 230 when we don't know the answer?
"Habits of Mind" focus on knowing how to behave intelligently when you DON'T know the answer.
They are a composite of many skills and attitudes that can be developed with practice.
PS 230 School Culture
Every child deserves a warm, safe and joyful
learning environment.
Responsive Classroom is not a curriculum,
but an approach to teaching
that builds a positive school culture.
PS 230 Community Norms
1. Always do your best to be safe, responsible, and
open to learning.
2. Earn and give respect through words and actions.
3. Help keep our school safe, clean and green!
